ABA Names William Klimon Chair of Nonprofit Organizations Committee

Caplin & Drysdale's William M. Klimon was named Chairman of the Nonprofit Organizations Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Business Law. In this role, Mr. Klimon will guide the Committee in its efforts to be a resource for nonprofit lawyers on issues affecting nonprofit organizations in a rapidly changing legal and regulatory environment and to monitor and update the Model Nonprofit Corporation Act.

As a Member of Caplin & Drysdale’s Exempt Organizations and Corporate Law practice groups, Mr. Klimon emphasizes helping nonprofits achieve their missions through proper corporate governance and tax-efficient nonprofit transactions. Over the last decade, Mr. Klimon advised over 500 nonprofit organizations on a complete range of issues from formation to dissolution, including over a dozen nonprofit mergers. He works with many of the nation's largest private foundations, public charities, political campaigns, environmental organizations, healthcare institutions, universities, libraries, museums, and churches.

Mr. Klimon also practices in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, intercompany lending, and choice of business entities and alternative organizational structures. He advises a variety of small- and medium-sized partnerships, LLCs, and close corporations, as well as large enterprises including multinational banks, manufacturers, and publishers.

Since 2012, The Legal 500 has listed Mr. Klimon as a leader in his field for Not-for-Profit and Domestic Tax: East Coast.
