David Rosenbloom Comments on U.S.-Vietnam Income Tax Treaty

Date: 7/9/2015

Tax Analysts quotes  H. David Rosenbloom concerning the July 7, 2015 income tax treaty signed between the United States and Vietnam, the first ever between the two countries.  For more on the story, please visit Tax Analysts  website (subscription required).

Excerpt taken from the article "U.S. and Vietnam Sign Tax Treaty" by Kristen A. Parillo for Tax Analysts.

H. David Rosenbloom of Caplin & Drysdale Chtd. told Tax Analysts that he's not optimistic that the treaty impasse will be resolved anytime soon. "The entire U.S. treaty program is on hold -- and has been since November of 2011 -- in light of Sen. Paul's refusal to agree to unanimous consent that the treaties be approved on the Senate floor," he said. "I am not aware of any movement in that regard, so I find it hard to focus on newly negotiated treaties and their implications. Please wake me up when Sen. Paul (a) becomes president; (b) otherwise leaves the Senate; or (c) changes his mind."
