Zhanna Ziering Named ABA 2013 Nolan Fellow

Date: 1/28/2013

NEW YORK, NY: January 28, 2013 – Caplin & Drysdale is pleased to announce that Zhanna A. Ziering, an Associate in the firm's New York office, has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2013 Nolan Fellowship by the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation. The award honors a select group of outstanding young tax lawyers from across the nation who have shown significant contribution, service, and leadership. Ms. Ziering is the third Caplin & Drysdale attorney in five years to receive this distinction, following Niles Elber, who was named a Nolan Fellow in 2009, and Rachel Partain, who was named a Nolan Fellow in 2012.

Scott D. Michel, President of Caplin & Drysdale, remarked "Zhanna continues to exemplify the strong values and high standards that we offer our clients. We are proud of her accomplishment and congratulate Zhanna on this well-deserved achievement." Ms. Ziering added, "I am honored to be among such a select group of individuals. Being an active member of the ABA Tax Section gives me an opportunity to expand my knowledge of tax law and discuss current trends and best practices with other tax practitioners."

Ms. Ziering joined Caplin & Drysdale's Tax Controversies, Tax Litigation, and Tax Crimes practice groups as an Associate in 2011. She offers guidance to businesses and high-net-worth individuals in matters involving domestic tax issues, offshore assets, and U.S. reporting requirements in connection with multinational business interests. Clients rely on her knowledge of tax law and experience in handling offshore voluntary disclosure requirements on the federal and state levels.

Ms. Ziering earned her J.D. magna cum laude from New York Law School and her LL.M. from New York University School of Law.
