Northern Virginia Magazine (NVM) names Caplin & Drysdale Members Beth Shapiro Kaufman and Jeffrey A. Liesemer among their “Top Lawyers” for 2016. NVM uses peer feedback and market research to identify top lawyers.
Ms. Kaufman, who also serves as the President of Caplin & Drysdale, counsels high-net-worth clients using tailored estate planning techniques that allow clients and their families to plan for future generations while minimizing their tax obligations.
Mr. Liesemer represents clients at the trial- and appellate-court levels in bankruptcy and commercial litigation proceedings. His practice focuses on business reorganizations, international insolvency matters, and representing creditors' committees in mass-tort bankruptcies.
A number of Caplin & Drysdale’s attorneys have strong ties to Virginia. The firm’s Founding Member, Mortimer M. Caplin, was a law professor at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he taught Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy. Other lawyers have graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, have clerked for a judge in Virginia, or regularly handle matters for clients in Virginia.
