House Democrats eyeing an ethics and campaign-finance overhaul appear focused on voting rights and Trump's taxes rather than on cracking down on super PACs.

“Voters, when they go into the voting booth, should have information helping them know who is for and against a particular candidate, and in these instances, that information is not making it to voters,” said Matthew Sanderson, an attorney who has served as counsel to GOP presidential campaigns. Mr. Sanderson is also a senior attorney in Caplin & Drysdale’s Political Law Group based in Washington, D.C.

“That can and should be changed,” he said. “Whether the FEC or Congress have the wherewithal to do that, or the political will to do that, is obviously an open question.”
