Beth Kaufman Elected Into the NAEPC Estate Planning Hall of Fame®

November 14, 2019, National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC)

Caplin & Drysdale‘s Beth Shapiro Kaufman was inducted into an “NAEPC Estate Planning Hall of Fame®”  by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) on November 7, 2019.

This award was presented on Thursday, November 7, 2019, during the NAEPC’s 56th Annual Conference at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where nationally-recognized leaders in estate planning presented comprehensive and multi-disciplinary educational sessions as part of the two and one-half day program. Ms. Kaufman is one of only seven estate planning professionals to receive this prestigious award in 2019, which is given annually in recognition of lifetime achievement and outstanding contributions to the practice and profession of estate planning within the professional disciplines of accounting, insurance and financial planning, law, philanthropy, trust services, and academia.

Ms. Kaufman started her career with Caplin & Drysdale in 1985, but left the firm in 1995 to perform government service. She rejoined Caplin & Drysdale's Private Client Group in 2001 after working for over six years in the Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy. Serving first as Attorney Advisor and then as Associate Tax Legislative Counsel, Ms. Kaufman had principal responsibility for all tax policy matters affecting trusts and estates, including estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes, as well as income taxation of trusts and estates. She has continued her focus in these areas in private practice. In addition to maintaining an active practice, Ms. Kaufman teaches generation-skipping transfer tax at the University of Miami and is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
