Caplin & Drysdale welcomes Shahriar “Shah” Raafi as an Associate in the firm's Complex Litigation and Bankruptcy practice groups.

Mr. Raafi’s practice focuses on advising individuals, corporations, and nonprofits on complex matters in state and federal courts across the country. He has substantial experience in all aspects of litigation, including investigating, bringing to trial, and arguing appeals.

Mr. Raafi earned his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. In 2019, he spent six months as a housing extern at Brooklyn Legal Services representing low-income tenants in Kings County Housing Court. During law school, Mr. Raafi served as Articles Editor for both the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law and the Berkeley Journal of Middle Eastern and Islamic Law. As a member of Berkeley’s International Human Rights Law Clinic, he was part of a team that published an investigative report on the Los Angeles Human Trafficking Bureau. Mr. Raafi also interned at the Criminal Defense Practice of the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn.
