The U.S. Tax Court released 46 percent fewer memorandum and division opinions in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the same period last year, a Bloomberg Tax analysis found.

While the number of cases is down, the issues in cases considered during the second quarter of 2018 were as complicated, if not more so, than those decided in previous quarters, said Charles Ruchelman, a tax controversy and litigation attorney at Caplin & Drysdale in Washington.
