The Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for the project:
- Examine the organization and function of the International Revenue Service (IRS);
- Explore interagency cooperation with the IRS;
- Gain exposure to best practices in tax administration at the federal, state, and local levels; and
- Address strategies to fight corruption and inefficient practices in the tax system.
