Caplin & Drysdale Welcomes Former IRS Nonprofit Senior Technical Adviser and Strengthens Tax Controversies and Private Client Groups

Meghan R. Biss has joined the Firm as Of Counsel to our Exempt Organizations Group after over a decade with the Internal Revenue Service, where she was Senior Technical Adviser to the Director of Exempt Organizations. A background in the public and private sectors make her uniquely qualified to advise nonprofit organizations on the interpretation, administration, and implementation of nonprofit law. Leila D. Carney has rejoined the Firm as Of Counsel to its Tax Controversies Group, where she assists corporate and individual clients to come into compliance with their U.S. tax obligations, including matters involving voluntary disclosures, foreign bank account reporting (FBAR), and nonqualified deferred compensation plans. Megan E. Wernke has been promoted to Of Counsel in the Firm’s Private Client Group. She counsels wealthy clients, fiduciaries of large estates and trusts, and wealth advisors on a wide range of sophisticated tax and estate planning matters.
