Scott Michel Speaks in Kuwait City at FATCA Seminar
Scott D. Michel spoke on June 17, 2013, at a seminar in Kuwait City concerning the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and its implications in the context of other enhanced U.S. tax enforcement measures. Addressing over 150 Gulf region bankers, investors, and others, Michel described the automatic information exchange regime implemented by FATCA beginning next year, its implications for U.S. citizens and green card holders worldwide, the IRS's and Justice Department's other tax enforcement tools, and the IRS voluntary disclosure policy as it might be available for U.S. persons who may not have fully complied with tax and reporting obligations.
