Tax Notes Names Scott Michel Among the Top 10 in Tax Community for 2012

01.09.2013

Caplin & Drysdale's President Scott D. Michel is listed among Tax Notes' 10 most influential people for 2012.  Each year, Tax Notes highlights the top 10 notable and talented figures in the tax world.  The publication based its selection on Scott's significant role during 2012 in the international tax arena, including his and the firm's representation of a large number of taxpayers addressing offshore issues, his initiation of a new ABA conference on International Tax Enforcement, and his frequent articles and speeches on tax practice topics, including FATCA and Circular 230.  For more information, please see the related article and press release.

The winner for 2012 Person of the Year was the Tax Policy Center ("TPC"), a nonprofit organization providing analyses of current and long-term tax issues.  TPC is a joint venture between the Brookings Institution and Urban Institute.  Others who were mentioned as notable in the tax arena last year were Governor Mitt Romney, Chief Justice John Roberts and senior Treasury and Justice Department officials.
