Caplin & Drysdale member Patricia Gimbel Lewis was selected as the winner of the "Best in Transfer Pricing" award for Euromoney Legal Media Group's Inaugural Women In Business Law Awards for the Americas region.  The award honors the achievements of women leading the legal sector across the Americas. Lawyers for each practice area were selected based on their professional accomplishments over the past year, advocacy and influence within their practice area, and an extensive research process that included interviews with hundreds of lawyers and legal experts. The award was bestowed at a ceremony on Thursday, May 24 at Essex House in New York.

"I am both humbled and gratified to receive this honor in a field I enjoy so much," Ms. Lewis said. "I hope this inspires other women in the field to seek the challenge and reward of this globally critical tax area."

"As transfer pricing has become a top priority enforcement area for the IRS as well as tax authorities around the world, multinational companies need the expertise of lawyers with transfer pricing experience such as Pat's," said Scott Michel, president of Caplin & Drysdale. "She has been guiding major corporations in this complex field for many years."

Ms. Lewis, an attorney with Caplin & Drysdale since 1971, regularly advises clients on international transfer pricing issues including tax planning advice on compliance with cross-border rules in connection with ongoing business operations or business transactions, as well as assistance with tax audits and other administrative controversies. A particular emphasis is the negotiation of advance pricing agreements (APAs) between taxpayers, the IRS, and foreign tax authorities, and competant authority matters. She is recognized internationally as an expert on transfer pricing issues.

Ms. Lewis lectures widely on current transfer pricing issues, and has published numerous articles in Bloomberg BNA's Tax Management Transfer Pricing Report and The Tax Executive. An avid contemporary art collector, Ms. Lewis holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an M.B.A from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration (where she was a Baker Scholar). Ms. Lewis earned her B.A. at Wellesley College.
